My name is Kristy Morelli and I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in a small suburb of Albany NY. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education from Keuka College and Master's degree in Education from The College of St. Rose, both colleges are located in NYS. During the 2012 - 2013 school year, I pursued achieving National Board Certification, one of the most challenging and demanding endeavors I ever worked on and yet also one of the most rewarding experiences of my life; and in Nov. 2013, I received notification that I am now a NBCT in Early Adolescence Science.
This is my 32nd year of teaching!! My teaching career began in 1988 in an inner city school district teaching 4th and 5th grade. In 1999, my husband and I decided we had had enough of the cold, snowy, and icy winters of NY and moved to Lake Havasu City after visiting for a few vacations. I started teaching at Daytona Middle School in 6th grade reading and language arts, and shortly there after moved into 6th grade science. I was at DMS until 2010 when it closed. I then came to Jamaica to teach 6th science. This is my 11th year at Jamaica and my 2nd of also teaching Science and Social Studies.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, especially taking cruises and visiting family, including many grandchildren, and friends in other parts of the country. I also enjoy reading, working on craft projects, and relaxing at home.
I am passionate about educating our students. I believe we are all life long learners, and I try to instill this philosophy in my students each and every day. I hope to make their time with me memorable and worthwhile.
